(UNI) A Delhi court today acquitted Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and convicted five others for their involvement in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case in which five members of a family were killed in Delhi Cantonment.
After the verdict was delivered, a protestor hurled a shoe at the Judge.
Additional Sessions Judge, Karkardooma court, J R Aryan gave a clean chit to former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar who was facing allegations of instigating a mob to attack and kill Sikhs in Delhi Cantonment area during 1984 anti-Sikh riots which broke out following the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh security guards on October 31, 1984.
Five members of a family were killed during riots in Rajnagar area of Delhi Cantonment and the case against Sajjan Kumar was registered in 2005 after 21 years of the incident. UNI
