NLS – TIOL Taxation Law Moot Court Competition (January, 2013)
We write to you on behalf of the Moot Court Society of National Law School of India University, Bangalore. We are pleased to inform you that we will be organizing the First Edition of the National Law School – Tax India Online (NLS-TIOL) Tax Moot Court Competition from 4-6 January, 2013.
Apart from performing well at leading moots in India and around the world, National Law School has also organized five editions of the NLS International Arbitration Moot (NLSIAM), and last year, the first edition of the immensely successful NLS International Arbitration Conference (NLSIAC). Over the years, NLSIAM has grown to become one of the biggest moots organized in India, and now attracts participation from a large number of domestic and international teams. Further, we also organize the National Funding Round of the prestigious Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot every year, in association with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Throughout, we have tried to maintain the highest standards of excellence across the board, in order to put in place an excellent, all-round mooting experience for all participants. In furtherance of such efforts, we are now moving ahead with our first moot based on Taxation Law. Through this Moot, we seek to promote advocacy and research skills in core areas of Taxation law, and also provide a platform for students to interact with some of the leading industry experts in the field.
We are also happy to announce that the winners of the moot will have an opportunity to intern with Nishith Desai and Associates, subject to terms, conditions and confirmation by NDA. The problem, drafted by Mr. Sawroop Mamipudi, throws up challenging issues of income tax law.
The problem file, the registration form and the rules and regulations are attached for your perusal. To complete registration, please follow the procedure mentioned in the registration form, which must reach us latest by 17th November 2012. Even teams that have provisionally registered with us must fill the registration form and send it by the aforesaid date.
