The Order of the Court was as follows :
RTI application:
1. The appellant filed an RTI application on 11.04.2012 seeking information pertaining to the list of employees deputed for elections.
2. The PIO responded on 17.5.2012 and denied information to the appellant under various clauses of the RTI Act. The appellant filed a first appeal on 12.5.2013 with the first appellate authority (FAA). The FAA response is not on record. The appellant filed a second appeal on 21.06.2012 with the Commission.
Hearing:
3. The respondent participated in the hearing through video conferencing.
4. The respondent stated that the appellant had sought information about the communications made by the SBI to the Collector of the District pertaining to the names proposed by the bank for electoral duty.
5. The respondent stated that a letter had been sent to the appellant explaining that it is not clear why the information is being sought in respect of electoral duty. Neither was the appellant, an employee of the bank.
One of the letter dated 17.05.2012 of the respondent is available on the file in which it has been mentioned that the matter is not of public interest and that the information was third party information, hence it had been denied.
6. The respondent stated that whatever might have the past correspondence, the latest letter which the respondent has received from the appellant is dated 08.06.2013 in which the appellant has said that he does not need the information and the matter may be treated as closed.
7. The appellant did not participate in the hearing.
Decision:
8. The Commission’s intervention is not required.
The appeal is disposed of. Copy of decision be given free of cost to the parties.
